Super Furry Animals – Shoot Doris Day

On their 2002 album, Rings Around the World (XL Recordings BXL 026CD), the Super Furry Animals had a song titled Shoot Doris Day. The song has this line, presumably inspired by the film The Man Who Knew Too Much, “Sentimentality pause as Jimmy Stewart ignores her question. The song title, by the way, refers to shooting Doris Day with film…not a gun.

The members of the Welsh group are: Gruff Rhys, Huw Bunford, Cian Ciaran, Guto Pryce and Dafydd Ieuan.

Just in case there are any Beatles fans, like me, reading this blog, I feel compelled to add that Paul McCartney also appears on a song from this album. The song is Receptacle for the Respectable and Sir Paul is heard munching on a carrot!
